This advertisement was made as part of semester end project at National Institute of Deisgn, Ahmedabad. (2nd Semester - Ad Film).
The brief (for the commercial assignment) was to promote 'Medimix', a handmade ayurvedic soap, popular predominantly in Southern India, to a northern (primarily Hindi speaking) audience.
Medimix - Tareeka Badaliye, Shakal Nahi.
Role: Script, Storyboard, Direction, Edit (Video, Sound, VFX and Color)
The theme for the advertisement developed initially as a parody of other commercials that make unreal promises of fairness and changing destinies by changing the soap; since brand Medimix naturally promises achievable results and tackles practical issues such as acne, I decided to go along this line of thought.
After a few iterations, the idea to mock an imaginary brand, 'Pimply' was devised, and the central premise was that an official application is rejected because of change in the looks of the person and the photograph in the form.
The office was designed within the campus, with a single crowded table and the backdrop of a government office.
Photo storyboards for the shoot were done 2 days prior to the actual shoot; the actual shoot was completed in about 5 hours.
